What Bryan has to say about 1BDE MEDDET:
MedDet is the backbone of survival for the Georgia State Defense Force Troops,
local law enforcement, and civilians at missions, State Active Duty, and
training. We patrol in small teams to ensure the continued safety of all
involved, and respond as necessary with precision, knowledge, and equipment
rivaled by any emergency or first response team. The training we receive
is unparalleled at the local, state, and federal levels as we receive training
from them all! The opportunity is abundant to achieve the highest level
of pre-hospital care certification with seasoned professionals ready, able,
and willing to assist through the entire journey. The military training
and leadership is the icing on the cake, which teaches the responsibility,
discipline, and knowledge to participate in tasks associated with Homeland
Security. The honor and joy derived from wearing the uniform of the United
States military and working side by side with our brothers and sisters in
arms is insurmountable. When adults, and especially the children, come up
to you and recognize the uniform by thanking you for all that you do for
the country, and you get that chill up your spine is the only time you will
truly know what I mean. The Georgia State Defense Force affords a comradery
many have never encountered even among those they consider to be friends.
It is not just between you and your fellow soldiers, it is also between
you and the GBI, local law enforcement, the ARMY National Guard, and many
more. The question is whether or not you have the integrity, character,
and honor to wear the uniform. If the answer is yes, the experience will
speak for itself.
