From the COMMANDER's Desk.
THANKS! I want to thank each of you who participated in 1.) the call up exercise the weekend before Christmas, and 2.) the Blood Mountain search. BOTH of these were important missions, and we performed very well! I call the call up exercise a mission, frankly, because it was a mission. There is potential for a real life, catastrophic event that will need a medical response. We know this from the experience of hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and it remains a very real possibility for which we may need to be mobilized. Thanks also goes to WO1 Liles for standing in for me in the commander’s meeting.
It is imperative that soldiers check email at least every other day. It is required that staff and team leaders check email everyday. It is the responsibility of team leaders to communicate information to those under them who do not have email or regular access to it.
It is each soldier's responsibility to make sure that we have their correct contact information. This includes making available to the MOB Roster a primary telephone number, which is the easiest number to reach the soldier at any given time. It is, therefore, just as important to inform (through the chain of command) any changes to that information. You can input ALL of your current information in a secure database via this website. If you have not done so already, simply go here and use the password mysdfinfo. That password is only good for entering data. Please be sure to enter all of the requested information.

From the TOP Down
My philosophy is that “Professional” isn't a type of job or whether or not you get paid to do a job. "Professional" is an attitude, and level of performance. To paraphrase the immortal Forrest Gump: “Professional is as professional does”.
My expectations of the troops for which I have responsibility are simple; 1. do your jobs, 2. do them professionally, and 3. go home safely at the end of the mission, drill, or training. If you need something to facilitate your job and/or enhance your performance, just tell me and we'll see what we can do. I want to give you, the elite troops of MEDDET, the military bearing that allows you to interact and integrate seamlessly with the National Guard and the US Army, not if, but when, the times arise.
I never took advantage of the opportunity of serving in the military at a
traditional age. This is my second chance. I have been told that I was born
with a warrior's heart, and that being a warrior was my destiny. Now, we will
see.

Important Points to Remember:
-
MEDDET understands that God, family, and employment will come before duty as necessary. However, it is your responsibility to notify through the chain of command, and to have leave or absences from drills and missions approved by command. Three (3) unexcused absences may result in suspension or Administrative Discharge. Complete a Leave Request Form, and submit it to your chain of command.
